Why a Social Enterprise?
Amidst a 30 year caereer in IT and Project Management, Andy took a break from all things tech and did Youth & Community work for 8 years working with an Australian organisation called Fusion. He ran a community center, organised youth day trips, did schools work, ran community festivals and assisted with training.
Over the years, Andy developed a heart for young people.
Today we continue to support charities and local groups that work with young people and Andy continues to do youth work in his spare time.
An example organisation we support is SLEAP, a homeless youth charity in Leyland.
Along with looking after their ICT, website, Photography and video, Andy has supported their fundraising activities with concerts and the big SLEAP Sleepout!
In addition we work with schools and colleges locally and have had numerous local young people and foreign students on work experience.
Our values inform all that we do
Ethics are not just an add-on, they are an integral part of how we do business informed by our Christian values.
Our Values
- Safety. This is a basic promise to everyone that they will work in a secure and supportive environment, recognising that everyone has a shared responsibility to act safely and to assess the risks before peforming a task.
- Respect. Every individual is important and priceless. People can disagree, but there’s no reason to judge or condemn.
- Pursuit of excellence. Perfectionism may be unrealistic and therefore unattainable, but we still strive to go above and beyond in all we do and deliver high-quality services.
- Integrity. We seek to be honest about all our work and align are words with our actions.
- Creativity. We will endevour to stay innovative and look for opportunities to make a difference.
- Servant leadership. As managers we seek to understand our employees’ perspectives and consider how we can help them succeed so they can accomplish company goals. We seek to build a culture of positive influence in which we ascertain employees’ strengths and develop them – not a culture of power, which is really more about instilling fear and anxiety in people.
- Responsibility. We take seriously our responsibility to respond to issues or challenges and decide how to best serve our customers. We resist the "it’s-someone-else’s-fault" mindset and take ownership for our mistakes.
- Determination. Our team strive to have a resilient, never-give-up attitude.
- Community service. We encourage all our staff to consider unique ways in which EWDP can impact and benefit the wider community, especially where young people are involved.
